Synopsis:

20 minutes cut of non-comic book footage. 30% of Movie Rescored (Around 38 minutes).

Intentions:

Goals: Rescore to the Godfather, the Batman, and Arkham Game soundtracks. Separate the movie into chapters using the chapter art in the comics. Cut out some of the non-comic scenes.

(This is dumb) • Cut 9 seconds of Alfred slapping Selina’s hand as she touches the turkey • Rescored Thanksgiving scenes to “Apollonia” and “The Halls of Fear” from the Godfather OST. - Chapter Three: Christmas • Added comic book title • Added Arkham chime sound fx from Arkham Asylum. • Added “Guard Murder” from Arkham Asylum video game OST for Joker’s cell reveal. • Added “The Night Before Christmas” song from Arkham Origins video game OST. • Added “Refusal Will Not Be Tolerated” and “It Was the Joker” songs from Arkham City video game OST. • Added the end of “Prelude” from Alfred Hitchock’s Vertigo soundtrack when Joker is fleeing on the stairs - Chapter Four: New Years Eve • Added comic book art • Added “Have You Got My Location” song from Arkham City video game OST. • Cut 8 seconds of Joker’s cheesy non-comic-canonical lines “fasten seatbelts because I have no idea how to fly this thing.” • Cut 6 seconds of cheesy Joker line “Oh there goes my new year’s resolution.” • Added “Mind if I cut in?” song from Dark Knight Rises OST. • Cut 20 seconds of Joker reading plane manual while flying plane and forgetting the safety. (Scene not in comics and slows down scene) • Cut 4 minute scene of Selina and Alberto talking, Batman coming to protect Selina from Alberto kissing her, Selina revealing Batman’s name as Bruce, and Batman spoiling the entire plot of the movie in Chapter 4/13… Now, like in the comics, Alberto gets shot smoking on the side of the boat with Batman nowhere in sight • Cut 2 minute scene of Batman talking to Gordon and Harvey saying that he was wrong in that Alberto was the holiday killer and that Batman failed to capture the real killer. (Not in comics) - Chapter Five: Valentine’s Day • Added comic book cover from Valentine’s Day • Rescored the funeral gravesite ceremony to “Salve Regina (Solemn Tone).” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMd09XOH6lQ It is an old Catholic tradition to chant Salve Regina at the grave site, and Italians are typically very traditional and generally have devotions to Our Lady. The Salve Regina is the Hail Holy Queen prayer chanted in Latin. I chose the solemn tone because it seemed to fit the sad feel of the movie more than the normal happier version of Salve. Added subtitles for the Latin and English translation of the prayer after the chant - which is the end of the Angelus prayer. You don’t say the angelus prayer at grave sites, but it happened to generally fit the mouth movements of the priest, and it’s better than the made-up dialogue that the script writers wrote since the prayer he was reciting in the movie is not part of the gravesite ceremony rite. • Added “The Abandoned Chamber” (Botanical Gardens) song and a clip of the radio playing classical music in the botanical gardens, and “Ivy’s Theme” all from Arkham Asylum video game. - Chapter Six: St. Patrick’s Day • Added Comic book cover of Ivy • Moved Ivy/Catwoman/Bruce scene from April Fools Day to this scene like in the comics - Chapter Seven: April Fool’s Day • Added Comic book cover of Riddler. (They skipped this chapter) • Moved scene of Gordon staring at Batsignal from Mothers Day to this day. They didn’t have any footage of April Fool’s Day except for the calendar flip, so I had to do something. - Chapter Eight: Mother’s Day • Added Comic book cover of little Bruce at parent’s grave • Added Scarecrow’s voice saying 2 lines from Arkham Knight game over scenes. • Added Scarecrow’s voice from movie to also play on rear speakers to help create scary illusion • Cut 27 seconds of Batman’s memory of his parents getting shot. I’m hoping this speeds up the flashback a tad since everyone already knows the story • Cut 1 minute of Catwoman brining Batman out of the hallucinations (She didn’t in the comics.) Now Batman does it by himself even with being drugged. • Added song “All Who Follow You” from Arkham Knight video game OST while Bruce makes it back to Wayne Manor. Also added rain sounds to rebuild the sound that I stripped for the scene rescore. - Chapter Nine: Father’s Day • Added Comic book cover of Batman at dad’s grave • Cut 1 min 22 seconds of Bruce finding two face coin and talking with the future Roman (Not in comics. And slows down the story.) • Added song “Bella Ciao (Version Lenta de la Musica Original de la Serie la Casa de Papel / Money Heist” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4UHkM09g8M - Chapter Ten: Independence Day • Added comic book cover of Batman & Catwoman during fireworks • Cut 16 seconds of Scarecrow and the Mad Hatter talking that Batman wasn’t part of the deal (Lines weren’t in comics and slows down scene) • Added song “Moving in for the Gil” from The Batman OST when Scarecrow and Madhatter are making the drop in the carriage. - Chapter Eleven: Roman Holiday • Rescored the dance scene to “Bella Ciao” (Musica Original de la Serie la Casa de Papel/Money Heist): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm-hdblSa9E Extended the beginning of the dance song to play downstairs in the lobby but reverbed to make it sound far away. • Added the beginning of “Prelude” from Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo during the elevator death reveal scene - Chapter Twelve: Labor Day • Added Arkham Chime sound fx from Arkham Asylum video game OST • Added the Ode To Perfection – Professor Pyg song from Arkham Knight video game during visit with Calendar Man. • Added “Hoarding School” song from The Batman OST by Michael Giacchino during the alley reveal scene. - Chapter Thirteen: Punishment • Added comic book cover title • Cut 1 min 55 sec of Bruce and Alfred talking about making Bruce’s parents proud. We already know this and it’s not in comics • Cut 2 min 43 sec of Batman and Selina talking about nothing (Not in comics) I kept in Batman visiting Carmine just because Carmine mentions “The Long Halloween”. I always like it when they mention the movie title in the movie. Moved the scene of Batman talking with Carmine to before Two-Face goes to Arkham – to help flow. • Cut 30 seconds of Arkham guard telling Julian about Taco Tuesday (Not in comics). Now there is no cart man. Added Arkham Chime sound fx from Arkham Asylum video game. • Cut 1 min 30 seconds of Batman and Gordon talking about how Harvey never went to Harvard (Not in comics). • Cut 1 min 12 seconds of Carmine and Sofia talking about nothing. Now, like the comics, it cuts straight to the penthouse being assaulted. • Cut 6 seconds of Catwoman saying “I can’t hold on” to Sofia. Now scene is faster like in the comics. • Cut 27 seconds of Batman saying to Carmine the “All we get” line which is a reference to a scene earlier that I cut out (It’s not in comics). Now there are fewer words which allows the viewer to feel more. • Added “Catwoman” song from The Batman OST during the death scenes and Louisa’s scene. Had to add dialogue into front left/right channels to make it audible. • Added “Catwoman Theme x Love Theme (The Godfather)” by • Greatest Music From Movies from when Two-Face says “Gilda” till the end of the movie with Alfred giving out candy: https://youtu.be/hyKjdf9UeEw • Cut 44 seconds of Bruce being pessimistic with Alfred. I also cut Selina out of the ending.
