Synopsis:
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series edited as... wait for it... a series.
Intentions:
I really enjoy some of the series to movie edits of this show, specifically Spence's version, it is great. But, I also like it as a series, or prefer it as a series. The movie edits cut out too much for me. So I made this, an edited version of the Obi-Wan series but still a series. This may not be for everyone, but I decided to put it out there for those would like to see an edit that keeps it as a series.
The Obi-Wan series is not perfect, not even close, but I liked it a lot. There are just a few things that are mind bogglingly bad about it. Some "what were they thinking" moments that I wanted to change or remove. Like Leia trying to escape when she was captured, it reminds me of yakety sax. Reva's parkour in episode two. Old Anakin in the flashbacks. The "hide in this coat" escape. So this is my attempt to remedy as much of this as I can.
Change List:
All episodes have the "previously on" removed.
Ep1 – Trimmed the scene where Leia is captured to be less silly.
Ep2 – Removed Leia saying “granddaughter maybe” implying Obi-Wan is super old. He’s not any older than Bail Organa, her actual father.
Trimmed some Leia running away shots.
Removed Reva and her terrible parkour from the rooftop chase.
Ep3 – No changes.
Ep4 – Trimmed the escape with Leia hiding in the coat. They no longer walk past many, many people, including the inquisitors. This is the best I could do with this scene, I would like to change it completely, but it's just not possible.
Ep5 – De-aged Anakin in the flashbacks. Thanks to Shamook on YouTube! Great work!
Reva is “killed” by Vader. It’s left ambiguous, so if she returns in a season 2 or something, it will still work.
Ep6 – No Reva on Tatooine since she is “dead.” There is quite a lot of editing to the Obi-Wan Vader fight as the original flashed back and forth between them and Reva on Tatooine. There is one shot where I could not get a transition to work, so I borrowed an idea from Spence on how to do it. Credit to Spence for that!
The Vader and Palpatine scene is moved to mid credits. I don’t really care for credit scenes, but this didn’t fit anywhere else, and I think it is an important scene.
There are other small trims throughout, but this covers all the big ones.
