Synopsis:

Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow... and blood.

Intentions:

This movie has such a Grindhouse feel to it that I wanted to create a real Grindhouse version that looked like it was from the 80s. I also felt that this movie lacked a good soundtrack so I’ve added a little more 70s style funk to beef up a lot of scenes. Most tracks also include cocaine in their lyrics and titles.

This also adds more flirting lines with these 2 which just makes things awkward and offkey. • Add tension close-up camera zoom to park ranger shot • Remove the “20 Questions” scene • Add “Universe – Cocaine” track to kid asking about doing drugs • Add white out to flash back • Remove “Well, you know what…” line. It just felt weird stretching out that line. • Add “Frank Perez - Code Blue” 70s Cop Funk track during Cop on the roof scene • Add forest sounds in 5.1 surround channels • Insert Bear attack scene from Backcountry (2015) movie • Trim above scene for faster pace • Add “Play that funky music” track to Bear attack to create the offkey vibe of the movie • Add bone cracking sound FX • Add standard man screaming sound FX • Add spray can sound FX • Add man screaming in pain sound FX • Continue Forest sounds in 5.1 to create eerie scene transition • Insert deleted scene of Mum and Henry searching for Dee Dee across the river. I really didn’t like the jarring way the original cut the scene plus, this scene now mentions Rocky and Star Wars movies and shows the Mum is smart and cares. • Rebuild 5.1. Surround sound for above scene. • Add birds and forest sound FX in 5.1 to match previous scenes. • Add river running sound FX in 5.1 channels • Fix the music transition coming out of the deleted scene. This cut off too abruptly in the Blu-ray release so I’ve smoothed out the mix. • Remove the “Vagina on my ear” joke. Even if this were funny. The bear isn’t laying anywhere near his ear when it falls. • Add “Earth, Wind and Fire – Fantasy” track to Bear doing Cocaine scene • Add “Gill Scott Heron – The Bottle” track to running scene • Add “James Brown – Payback” as Boss man explains the situation • Add white out flashes to flashback sequences • Add “Paul Anka – Puppy Love” track to dog flashback • Remove awkward shot of everyone just standing on the ledge • Add “Grindhouse version by Movies Remastered” to outro credits • Insert Park Ranger deleted scene as mid credit scene • Convert above scene to 5.1 surround sound • Add forest sound effects for continuity • Insert 80s Anti-cocaine advert to end credits • Add grindhouse film burn out • Add MR Grindhouse logo • Fade to black

After cutting some of the jokes, I felt this edit needed some lighter moments to give that real emotional roller-coaster feeling. It was also fun rebuilding the 5.1. surround channels for each scene. Hence 2.0 in the file name.
