Synopsis:
After the defeat of Majin Buu humanity enjoyed a short-lived peace until a malevolent deity descended on Earth. Twice the world savior and now traumatized war hero, Trunks must go back to the past yet again for answers.
Intentions:
The purpose of this cut is to reduce the unnecessary moments from the TV representation of Dragon Ball Super and treat it like a movie in-line with the rest of the Super movies. Due to length this arc was cut into two parts with the first part ending around the last eighth of Season 4 episode 11.
Change List:
- Recaps have been minimized as much as possible
- First opening and last credits kept.
- All fights tightened, less interruptions, standoff time etc.
- Firefighter scenes except opening clip cut
- Opening scene of Trunks sleuthing around the ruined city during the day has been cut in favor of starting at the apartment to build up tension
- Maya's death tightened
- Class scene cut
- Trunks landing sequence shortened
- Whis / Bulma call shortened
- Classroom teacher largely cut
- Korin Tower sequence shortened
- Pilaf cheapskate gag cut
- Minimized side commentary when non-essential
- Cut Trunks getting Beerus confused again
- Moved Trunks Krillin 18 scene to before Goku / Zamasu encounter
- Cut Goku + Bulma from Trunks / Vegeta fight
- Heavily reduced labwork prep / ship readiness scenes
Additional Notes:
Although there's a signficant contingent of the fanbase that considers the manga adaptation superior than the anime, Super was firing on all cylinders at this point. Slightly higher budget and better writing made this arc an exciting watch!
