Synopsis:

When taking on a literal behemoth like this film, with all the good and bad coming in it's massive nostalgia package, doing a fan edit claiming you wanna fix the more underlying flaws that drag the quality down is no easy task. Especially with the kind of flaws that include; an overly long run time that tends to drags at points, a bland color palette that makes the film look ugly and sickly, and characters that make down right stupid and even life threatening decisions to those around them. So, with all of that said, a lot of time and effort had to be put into this, as well as doing research to find others similar opinions (special shout out to the Nostalgia Critic for his take, points and arguments that really helped me out!) to create a worthy Jurassic Park sequel that more people can enjoy.

Intentions:

I have a, rather strange relationship to this film. After seeing the original JP and loving every bit of it, watching the sequel immediately following left me, with a rather bitter taste. Needlessly to say, I wasn't the only one who had these feelings and it took me awhile, after multiple viewings over the years to finally realize that, I in fact don't hate this movie, despite its problems. It had redeeming qualities for sure (including darn good CG for the late 90's) and I believe tackling the core flaws will shine a brighter light on those positive attributes.

Change List:

-Added the IronMan23 logo before the film starts -Replaced the original Universal logo with the 2013 remaster, as well as the traditional overture with the darker drum beats and choir from JP 1 -Brand new color grade that leans toward the orange/warm side to bring the life back into the picture -35mm film grain sprinkled throughout for a more film like appearance -Redundancies in dialogue have all been trimmed out, stupid character decisions have been excised and trimmed. Basically, our heroes don't try justifying their actions after seeing what it led to. They simply accept blame, move on and work with Ingen to get to safety. -Scenes like the Hispanic boatman talking about "Los Cinco Muertes". Roland's five minute talk in the middle of a chase, over the top and forced animal rights messages, and anything else that has little to no impact or drags something out, has been excised. -Random humor that pops in at the wrong time or is over abundant, like during the finale or when it interrupts a previously established tone, is once again gone for good. -Plenty of new sound fx additions have been made, primarily during the middle of the edit to give a bit more atmosphere when needed. This also includes replacing things like the roar of the T rex to give a more epic scale and feeling to the experience. There are of course dozens of other changes, additions and trims, but the list should cover the basics of what the edit achieves (and yes I did Heavily trim Kelly's Gymnastics to where it breezes by before we can cringe).
