Synopsis:

Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Pride. Lust. Envy. Two cops track a brilliant and elusive killer who orchestrates a string of horrific murders, each kill targeting a practitioner of one of the Seven Deadly Sins. The Sinful Cut extends an almost perfect film with an all new opening an several deleted scenes. Six new and extended scenes have been masterfully reintegrated into the movie with 6 more minutes of Fincher Footage.

Intentions:

I saw Se7en and really loved it, so I decided to add back a few of the deleted scenes that brought some more depth to the characters and story, specifically Somerset and his motivations for retiring in the new opening.

Change List:

All the new scenes have been colour corrected and sharpened so that they can look better next to HD footage. The SD footage has been crossfaded in almost all scenes to try and create a seemless transition between the deleted footage and the final film. The two unused scenes, "Tracey Wakes from a Light Sleep" and the alternate ending were unused for the same reasons that Adabisi had left them out. I was originally gonna include them for completionist sake, but I cut them in and realised they didn't need to be there. The Tracey scene was deleted because its a slow exterior shot of the apartment that slows the pace and the theatrical cut has a better scene transition of her waking up, looking for Sumerset and Mills, and then cut to them and what they're doing. This just adds a long pull out shot that puts a wedge between that transition. The alternate ending wasn't too alternate enough to use as it basically just had some different coverage and shots used in editing as the helicopter shots hadn't been filmed yet. There was a small bit of Sumerset checking the delivery driver's licence and registration that I was gonna cut in, but the drop down to SD wasn't worth it for this small bit of dialogue. Cuts and Additions: - Reinserted deleted opening with the final credits sequence, this sequence used footage from later in the film, so it was removed there and put here. The new opening also explains the flower tile that is seen as Sumerset gets ready and the knife. - Extended car ride in from the gluttony murder - Removed Sumerset's cab ride (as it was now used in the opening) and replaced it with a homeless man asking for change before Somerset enters the library - Extended scene of Tracey and Somerset talking before dinner, as he explains what the tile represents - Extended sequence prior to the raid on Victor's place (Sloth) at the police station and the car ride in - Extended scene at the Pride murder with some extra gore

Additional Notes:

-

Other Sources:

The Blu-Ray was used for the feature film while the deleted scenes were taken from the Deluxe Special Edition PAL DVD for that glorious 576i resolution.

Special Thanks:

Adabisi for creating his original EE for the film a while back.
