Synopsis:

Thor Love and Thunder arrived in cinemas to the sounds of raucus laughter, and the sound of footsteps as people walked out of the cinema, disgusted at what a blundering fool Thor had become. Whilst many people enjoyed Taika Waititi's unique blend of humour and emotion, There are many people who felt he had taken it too far. Thor Love and Thunder Minus Comedy takes the worst of the comedy out and aims to focus on Thor's emotional journey, rediscovering love and accentuating the threatening presence of Gorr the god-butcher. Thor discovers that Gorr is aiming to kill all gods and sets out on a mission to raise an army to rescue the abducted children of Asgard. It's not yet clear how this army will come about but on the way, he meets the enigmatic Zeus whose allegiances are never quite clear, and rekindles a romance with Jane Foster who has her own secrets.

Intentions:

The plan is to remove the worst of the comedy and allow the story to breathe. There is actually a lot of quality in the movie, it's just completely undermined by the puerile humour. This edit takes out the worst bits and tries to leave the movie more on the level of Thor Ragnarok. The focus is on Thor. Some Jane scenes are removed to support this.

Additional Notes:

AI tools were used to clean up audio, separating dialogue and music so it could be re-layered. AI upscaling and frame insertion was used to allow for some special effects when doing Zeus' magic psychic power. New credits animation was created in 3dsmax using clean backing plates. Korg's face was made static by grabbing a still frame and motion tracking it to the movement of the shot. The escape from omnipotent city was made vague by selectively blurring out the 'sky' with a mask that was motion tracked to the footage. The glowing effect added to Zeus' eyes when he does his psychic message to Thor was merely hand painted in photoshop and motion tracked to the footage.
