Review:
I don’t have enough words in my vocabulary to express how good this edit is. Unlike MR, I loved the original version - or I thought I did (this edit is the only one I’ll ever watch again going forward). I also knew nothing about it going in, but I was expecting a QT experience and I wasn’t disappointed. That said - this version was somehow more authentically “QT” than anything he’s directed himself. I loved the immersion created from the flawless addition of the deleted and extended scenes. The full Hullabaloo scene is hilarious and wonderfully awkward and I had the same reaction as Pitt when Manson glitched in front of his car. The Timothy Olyphant bar scene was masterfully executed. The scene placement, color/film grade overlays, and the manner in which this edit was executed made it feel like I had a mental time machine and traveled right into the 60s Hollywood scene for a few hours. I mean this literally - I’ve watched it 3 times already just for the time travel experience. The flow is smooth and it seems like every edit added to the verisimilitude of the alternate world. 10/10 stars - highly recommend!
