Blade Runner 2049: Savage Cut
Original Title: Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Faneditor: FrameSniffer
Franchise: Blade Runner
Fanedit Type: FanMix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st March 2023
Fanedit Runtime: 143
Synopsis: The film starts with Niander Wallace, CEO of Wallace Corp, consumed by the knowledge that a replicant was born, he plots to capture and reverse engineer the child at all costs. Key characters and the core objective are now introduced much earlier in the film, some scenes and exposition have been removed, which either didn’t move the plot along or were duplicated elsewhere. The balance of how officer K and Luv are portrayed has also been changed to give them both a menacing edge and some parity in their motives. Who is the protagonist or antagonist is left more open now. These changes, along with changes to the film score help to add a little soul, intrigue, brutality and tenderness, which rebalances the film and is a more rewarding watch.

Blade Runner 2049 1.1
Original Title: Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Faneditor: 15MaF
Franchise: Blade Runner
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st March 2019
Fanedit Runtime: 145
Synopsis: Spoilers.... This edit tightens up some narrative dialogue here and there and trims off some excess shots, all for being too on the nose essentially, but isn't too heavy handed with it as Wallace's monologues remain in full - If only to provide a deeper psychological framing for Luv's own psychotic tendencies. Where it is heavy handed is in the complete removal of the character Mariette. She is still technically present in one or two places, but cropped out and pushed back into the the periphery as an extra. This edit also re grades the colour of the film to that of a more neutral palette and pulls the fogged in stylized highlights back out to a realistic luminescence.

Ghost in the Shell 2017: Lean & Mean Edition
Original Title: Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Faneditor: FairFriend
Franchise: Ghost in the Shell
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st February 2019
Fanedit Runtime: 91
Synopsis: The theatrical cut was full of lines which were very on the nose. Additionally, there was a subplot, involving Motoko's mother, that went nowhere. These issues have been addressed in the Lean & Mean cut. Moreover the beginning of the movie was re-edited to mimic the way the original animated movie starts. To this purpose, the credits scene was rescored using Kenji Kaway new rendition of the original main theme. Scenes from the very beginning of the movie have been used to create a flashback sequence that now appears much later. Multiple scenes where shortened, lines of dialogues were either deleted or altered or used in different contexts. The cemetery scene was restored to its original state and purpose. As far as I can tell, in the theatrical cut it was sliced in 2 to accomodate for the character of Motoko's mother, which I presumed was added at a later time to address the whitewashing controversy and to make up for the deleted scenes which included the character of Paz.

RoboCop: TV Edit HD Restoration
Original Title: RoboCop (1987)
Faneditor: kchrules
Franchise: Robocop
Fanedit Type: Special Projects
Fanedit Release Date: 1st February 2019
Fanedit Runtime: 100
Synopsis: This is an edit of RoboCop that attempts to recreate the heavily censored Network Television presentation in HD. The movie is cropped and pan-and-scanned to 4:3 like old TV broadcasts, and there are fade in and outs every 15ish minutes to emulate where commercial breaks would be. Swears are replaced with less offending words like "freaking", "forget", "bonehead", and "bologna". Violence is heavily trimmed down and cut as well, for example, Clarence swerves around Emil near the end instead of running him down.

Blade Runner: The Analogue Cut
Original Title: Blade Runner (1982)
Faneditor: 15MaF
Franchise: Blade Runner
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st December 2018
Fanedit Runtime: 117
Synopsis: This edit includes various visual and audio elements from all released versions of Blade Runner in an attempt to make it the best available presentation with a few narrative edits for personal preference. Most notable inclusions are the technical updates from The Final Cut, with the visual elements re-graded to match the legacy colour tones of the previous releases - and particular attention being paid to literally preserving the original portions of the legacy frames as well as grading the changes where masking was appropriate. The film's narrative follows more closely the Workprint and tacitly rejects Ridley Scott's attempts to render the human/replicant philosophical analogue as effectively superficial. This version takes out any connection to references made by Scott in interviews and indeed the Director's Cut relating to Deckard's origins. Instead this film is content to literally study/contrast the philosophical state of all the humanity on display or lack thereof from all participants.

The music is supplemented by some earlier Vangelis tracks, as well as material by John Barry and others. No music from the original Blade Runner is used, except when sampled by Vangelis on the BR tribute album. In addition, the edit is approx. 15 minutes shorter, mainly from trimming Wallace’s scenes to a minimum and cutting Gaff and Rachael.

Blade Runner 2049: Aerodynamik
Original Title: Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Faneditor: TM2YC
Franchise: Blade Runner
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st April 2018
Fanedit Runtime: 150
Synopsis: My main problem with 'Blade Runner 2049' was the insanely slow pace of the editing/cutting. Every line had a vast gap after it and every shot lingered for too long, even if nothing whatsoever was happening in the shot and the camera was motionless. I love long movies but when a film is nearly 3-hours, careless and lax editing is a crime. It's like they assembled all the footage and forgot to go through and tighten everything up like a good editor should. So I was interested in making a cut of this film that focused (almost) entirely on improving the pace of the cuts. The same film/experience but edited properly. An experiment in doing a fanedit that doesn't actually remove anything!

Synopsis: For me the sequels are a major disappointment after the awesome Matrix 1-movie. So over the time the question arised in me: What if Matrix 1 had no sequels? Using mere 15 minutes from the sequels, it was possible for me to reframe Matrix 1 and finish the story within Matrix 1.
