Getaway: Recut
Original Title: Getaway (2013)
Faneditor: Avid 4D
Franchise:
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st January 2015
Fanedit Runtime: 86
Synopsis: Getaway is a car chase movie, so don't expect the finest story ever written, but it does have some great driving scenes if you are a sports car nut or motor head like me! Unfortunately it also has some of the worst cheesy dialogue, mostly by Salena Gomez who I'm sure the movie creators thought would be perfect as the annoying teen, so I don't entirely blame her. Her dialogue definitely needed trimming to make the overall movie more watchable and enjoyable.

Franchise:
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st December 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 90
Synopsis: Midnight Meat Train' was a solid horror film starring Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones that had a novel premise and some terrifying moments along with an entertaining story that avoided the many cliches and pitfalls of many run-of-the-mill horror films today. It was original, fresh and very bloody. However, some fans were not satisfied with the overly occult ending and wonder what it would have been like if Meat Train was a straight-up slasher. With this edit, the film is recut into a solid slasher/splatter/psychological thriller with an alternate ending.

Drive: Radio 1 Rescores

Faneditor: TM2YC
Franchise:
Fanedit Type: Preservation
Fanedit Release Date: 1st November 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 94
Synopsis: On 30th October 2014 BBC3 screened a new version of Nicholas Winding Refn's 2011 film 'Drive' with an all-new score of original music. It was curated by Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe with the full co-operation of the Director. So it's one of those rare "Official Fanedits". Zane Lowe has insisted that it's not meant to be an improvement on the original, only an alternate take while Refn has stated "You can't own creativity. Rather than say 'Drive' is mine, I'd prefer to say it's everyone else's". Good idea or not, it's a brave experiment, so Lowe and his pick of artists deserve points for having the bottle to even attempt this in the first place.

The Shining: Redrum
Original Title: The Shining (1980)
Faneditor: Ranger613
Franchise:
Fanedit Type: Special Projects
Fanedit Release Date: 1st July 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 119
Synopsis: The Shining has always been a mysterious film, with multiple conspiracy theories circulating about hidden messages within. One bizarre practice among the most zealous fans of Stanley Kubrick's horror masterpiece is to attempt to 'uncover' the deepest subconscious meaning of an already subversive film by playing it both forward and backward simultaneously, with the belief that Kubrick had designed the film itself in perfect symmetry, as he did with many of the shots. The result is best described as unsettling, hallucinatory and disturbing. While by no means was this film officially meant to be watched this way, the visual and thematic parallels of the beginning and end of the film are eerily resonant. The first scene for example has Jack telling his employers that "there's no way he's going to go insane" while we watch the shadowy reverse footage of him stalking his son through a maze, showing how structurally deep and complex the film really is. I did not invent this method of watching The Shining, but have put my own spin on it to make it a more satisfying experience.

Thunderball: Warhead Edition
Original Title: James Bond: Thunderball (1965)
Faneditor: Ranger613
Franchise: James Bond
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st July 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 99
Synopsis: Thunderball really is Connery's last great performance as 007 before he completely checked out of the role. It's the last one where he really owns the film and proves why he is still regarded as the best actor to ever play 007. It's also full of exotic location shots, great music and one of the most famous villain plots in the series, involving stolen nuclear warheads but the film itself has always been criticized, mainly due to a plodding pace, the bulk of which is due to some overlong underwater sequences. Thunderball failed to become the "best bond ever" as its theatrical tagline promises because it almost feels rushed, as if the editing was unfinished in certain instances. Well, now the editing is finished. Almost no major scenes or sequences have been removed but almost every scene has been trimmed for pacing, resulting in a faster film with an enhanced narrative.

Synopsis: This edit presents the entire Moriarty arc of BBC's Sherlock in one film-- not dispersed over four episodes as in the original. Eventually the game threatens to cost Sherlock everything: his career, his friends, and life... you'll be caught up in the action as soon as it kicks in and its a non stop ride from there.

Blade Runner: Tears in the Rain
Original Title: Blade Runner (1982)
Faneditor: Ranger613
Franchise: Blade Runner
Fanedit Type: FanMix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st July 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 75
Synopsis: "Tears in the Rain" a vastly different version of the film which serves as an Alternate look at Ridley Scott's masterpiece, not an extension of the original. It focuses more on the Replicants and their quest to meet their maker. Rick Deckard is presented as a competent determined hunter and killer (unlike the relatively insecure counterpart in the original), in many ways an antagonist-- this is a world where Replicants are outlawed and killed on identification. They attack only when cornered, but mean no harm to humans. Not unless they can help it... This film is presented in high contrast black and white to accentuate the noir feel of the original. Trimmed down and fast paced, I hope this edit will intrigue, excite and entice fans of the original and new viewers alike.

Original Title: Moses Jones (TV Show)(2009)
Faneditor: TM2YC
Franchise:
Fanedit Type: TV-to-Movie
Fanedit Release Date: 1st May 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 114
Synopsis: When I first saw the 3-part/3-hour 2009 'Moses Jones' BBC mini-series, I was blown away by how good it was. However, it was not what I had expected from the promotional material, it was a multi-layered, multi-character exploration of immigrant identity. But I'd thought it would be a familiar Police Drama, focusing primarily on the two Cops played by Shaun Parkes and Matt Smith. So this is my attempt to create the movie that I'd expected.

Diabolique: Alternate Cut
Original Title: Diabolique (1996)
Faneditor: Dr. Sapirstein
Franchise:
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st March 2013
Fanedit Runtime: 84
Synopsis: The remake of Clouzot's 1957 masterpiece "Les Diaboliques" - now starring Academy Awards nominees Sharon Stone and Isabelle Adjani - is presented here in a significantly revised alternate cut which follows a "less is more" principle. The film is presented in a carefully restored black and white - as per the director's original intent - and is bereft of 23 minutes of weak and largely useless material. Inane dialogue, fruitless sub-plots and gaping holes in the story have been removed to present a more intense and potent thriller. The ludicrously over-the-top ending has also been removed and replaced with a much more blunt ending which is more in keeping with the original Clouzot version.

Icarus
Original Title: James Bond: Die Another Day (2002)
Faneditor: LastSurvivor
Franchise: James Bond
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st January 2013
Fanedit Runtime: 110
Synopsis: Die Another Day should have been celebration of everything good about the James Bond franchise. Unfortunately, in trying to throw everything but the kitchen sink at the screen in celebration of 007's 40th anniversary, director Lee Tamahori and the producers ended up with an unfocused movie, riddled with poor innuendo jokes and some ill-advised ventures into the more fantasy CGI arena. The hope with Icarus, is to redress the balance and uncover what I believe is a genuinely good old-fashioned large scale Bond adventure. No invisible car, no CGI tsunami surfing heroics, the poor jokes removed, Icarus attempts to give Pierce Brosnan the Bond swansong he deserved.
