The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - Entirely Respectable Edition
Original Title: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)
Faneditor: TM2YC
Franchise: Lord of the Rings
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st April 2020
Fanedit Runtime: 154
Synopsis: The 'Entirely Respectable Editions' seek to remove all material that is silly, overplayed, misjudged, overly comical, ridiculous and generally inconsistent with the more serious tone established in the earlier 'Lord of the Rings' Trilogy. It is not a radical restructure, or a two-film cut and does not set out to streamline narrative, quicken pacing, or remove characters and plot-threads. The more time we spend in Middle Earth the better, I just want Middle Earth to be a more sensible place while we're there.

The Hobbit: Into the Fire
Original Title: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
Faneditor: Ranger613
Franchise: Lord of the Rings
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st September 2014
Fanedit Runtime: 98
Synopsis: No barrel gymnastics. No molten gold. The Desolation of Smaug is Peter Jackson's adaptation of the middle third of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit. Despite some incredible visuals and fine performances, it was too long and encumbered by many scenes that not only slowed the film, but also were completely invented for the film and deviated from the novel significantly. "Fire of the Dragon" is an earlier edit of this film, where I cut out all the extra made-up-for-the movie padding that stretched a perfectly good 2 hour movie into almost three. 'Dragon' was a version that didn't drag and had good pacing, and is what I feel the Theatrical cut should have been--I emphasize that because a lot of the material I liked from the actual movie and I felt made it entertaining (namely, the barrel fight and the dragon showdown in the end) are left intact in Dragon-- I just felt those made the movie more fun and gave it the feel of adventure it needed. However, I strongly agree with a lot of the criticism of both the original film and my first cut, in that these things (1) were a little over-the-top at times, and (2) still never happened in the book. So I decided to go ahead and make further changes to produce a "purist cut" of the movie. Instead of just being a watered down version of "Dragon", I trimmed more, reordered certain scenes, and made a new opening for it, as well as a new title. This is as close as Desolation comes to being a 'book' cut of Tolkien's the Hobbit.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Part 2
Original Title: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Faneditor: lantern51
Franchise: Spider-Man
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st February 2023
Fanedit Runtime: 106
Synopsis: This is vastly different than the original cut. We have a new opening to recap the ending of Part 1 and a subsequent scene not seen in Part 1. The tone is less cartoonish and more balanced. There is a lot of new music and deleted material used to flesh out the movie. Much like Part 1 this has the focus on Peter and Gwen's relationship without all the other distractions. Electro is pushed back to a secondary villain and Harry is brought up to being the primary villain. Electro's motivation is different as well. The accident simply drove him insane and he hears voices in his head.

Franchise: Flash Gordon
Fanedit Type: FanMix
Fanedit Release Date: 1st April 2018

Synopsis: With Flash Gordon, along with his faithful companions, Dale Arden and Doctor Zarkov, having twice before thwarted his evil plans for conquest of the universe, Ming the Merciless renews his assault on the Earth, this time by coating the inhabited portions of the planet with a deadly dust, which strikes its victims down with the unyielding Purple Death. Flash, Dale, and Zarkov must journey through the far reaches of space to the forest kingdom of Arboria, on the planet Mongo, to enlist the aid of Prince Barin and his Tree Men, where, with the additional assistance of Queen Fria of Frigia and her soldiers, Flash and his friends must discover a way to put a stop to the Purple Death and disrupt the nefarious plans of Ming and his minions. This is a feature-length cut of the 1940 public domain serial 'Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe', with Larry "Buster" Crabbe, Carol Hughes, Charles Middleton, Frank Shannon, and Anne Gwynne. Despite the dodgy science, improbable escapes, cheesy special effects, sometimes wooden acting, and juvenile story, 'Flash Gordon: Ming Strikes Back' provides a glimpse into how 'Star Wars' may have looked to an audience in 1940.
