1. Own the Source

At MoviesRemastered.com, we uphold a strict policy that respects the rights of copyright holders. Whether you're here to create or enjoy fan edits, it is essential that you own the original source material. This rule is non-negotiable. If we determine that you are using pirated content, you will be prohibited from accessing the site, and your fan edit will be removed from MRDb. Acceptable sources include DVDs, Blu-rays, or legally obtained digital downloads.

The sole exception to this policy occurs when the original content is only available on a streaming service. In such instances, you must provide proof of a valid subscription to that service (such as Disney+, Netflix, or Amazon Prime). This exception applies solely to content created specifically for these streaming platforms and does not extend to movies or TV shows that can be purchased elsewhere. When submitting your fan edit request, please include a screenshot of your subscription activation date from your account profile.

While fanediting may qualify as Fair Use, it is inherently dependent on the work of the original creators. Therefore, we have established stringent regulations to safeguard the interests of copyright holders and protect their income. Fanedits must be NON-commercial and should only be made using materials that you legally possess. Any users found trying to monetize their fanedits will face a ban from the site.

To honor the rights of copyright holders and guarantee they receive appropriate compensation, faneditors are required to utilize officially released materials that they have purchased, including Blu-rays, DVDs, or digital versions from services like iTunes, Amazon, or Google Play. Furthermore, you must possess a legal copy that is of equal or higher resolution than the fanedit (for instance, an official Blu-ray is acceptable if the fanedit is derived from a DVD).

Materials obtained unlawfully, including stolen or leaked workprints, are explicitly prohibited. Fan edits that incorporate such content will not be included in our database.

2. Submitting Fanedits on MRDb

MoviesRemastered.com boasts the most thorough compilation of fan edits available on the World’s Largest Online Database (MRDb), functioning as a comprehensive wiki for fan edits. Please note that we do not host or provide direct download links for any fan edits. Only authorized Faneditors/Members can submit finished fan edits for inclusion in our database. To qualify for acceptance, submissions should consist of significant alterations rather than minor edits, such as removing introductory or concluding credits. A detailed list of changes is essential for attracting attention, and all submissions must be proofread and accompanied by cover art. You may choose between thumbnail graphics or high-resolution poster artwork when submitting, as projects lacking artwork will not be featured on the homepage.

All fanedits that appear on MRDb must be made using legally acquired sources. Fanedits made from pirated content or clips that haven't been officially released by their copyright owners will not be included. If you have any questions regarding the legality of your sources, please reach out directly to an Administrator or Moderator. Refrain from posting fanedits with ambiguous source materials. The use of torrents is strictly forbidden.

Faneditors utilizing unauthorized sources will be issued a warning, and their projects will be removed. A second violation will result in a permanent ban. This policy is strictly enforced.

Users are welcome to submit fan edits created by editors who are currently inactive or have ceased their activity. Although we strive to showcase a wide variety of high-quality edits, the staff reserves the right to decline any submission at their discretion.

Fanedits that are still in progress should not be uploaded to MRDb, as this platform is intended solely for finished projects. For unfinished works, please utilize MR Reddit or the appropriate threads on MR Discord.

MRDb curates a collection of fanedits submitted by or on behalf of faneditors who comply with copyright regulations. We do not feature edits that incorporate sources that are known to have been acquired illegally. Below are some guidelines regarding sources:

Note: Please be aware that if there are any doubts regarding adherence to the Own the Source rule, we may ask for proof of purchase, such as a redacted receipt with personal details obscured. Any cases of non-compliance will be dealt with rigorously.

3. Hosting/Acquiring Fanedits

MRDb does not provide direct links or host files for fanedits. To access a fanedit, use the “Request this Edit” button on the project page to contact the Faneditor directly. If this button is not available, you can try reaching out to the Faneditor through MR Discord, MR Reddit, or other social media platforms.

As a listings and review site, MRDb does not facilitate the downloading of fanedits. Faneditors are responsible for making their edits available through their preferred methods, such as usenet, torrents, or digital file lockers like Google Drive, Mega or Mediafire.

Direct links to copyrighted material are strictly prohibited on MRDb, including in MR Reddit, MR Discord chatrooms, threads, and edit listings. While faneditors may reference external sites (e.g., fanedit.info and the fanedit network) for download instructions, these sites are not affiliated with MRDb. Please do not contact MRDb staff regarding issues with these external sites.

Discussion of the existence of such sites is permitted, but do not post full URLs or direct download links. If you have questions about this policy, contact a staff member directly. Avoid posting these questions on MR socials, as such posts will be deleted, and repeated violations may result in infractions or bans.

Members can exchange messages privately, but MRDb cannot control or monitor private communications. If you are having trouble finding a fanedit, visit the “Questions” section on MR Discord for assistance. Do not request downloads or edits outside of this section or via public threads.

4. Rating/Reviewing Fanedits

All ratings and reviews on Movies Remastered Database (MRDb) are subject to moderation to maintain fairness and quality standards.

When rating a fan edited movie/tv show on our 10-star scale, it's important to provide a detailed description that covers various aspects of the fanedit. Your rating should include an assessment of the editing quality, focusing on the smoothness of transitions and the overall flow of the film. Evaluate the narrative to determine if the editor successfully achieved their goals and if the story remains coherent without new plot holes. Consider the audio quality, noting any issues with sound clarity or synchronization. Additionally, comment on any special features, such as added scenes, visual effects, or unique elements that enhance the viewing experience. This thorough approach helps maintain high standards and provides valuable feedback for both the community and the faneditors.

Ratings are based on 6 categories:

  1. A/V Quality: Rate the overall quality of the audio and visual presentation.
  2. Audio Editing: Evaluate the seamlessness and clarity of the audio edits.
  3. Visual Editing: Assess the smoothness and coherence of the visual cuts and transitions.
  4. Narrative: Judge how effectively the fanedit tells the story and maintains coherence.
  5. Enjoyment: Reflect on your overall entertainment experience while watching the fanedit.
  6. Overall Score: Provide an overall rating that summarizes your assessment of the fanedit.

Ratings of 7 stars or lower must be accompanied by a detailed explanation, as these scores suggest possible quality concerns. Reviews lacking sufficient detail for ratings below 7 stars will be removed. Please ensure your ratings and reviews are fair and unbiased; do not use them to settle personal scores or favor certain fanedits.

Additionally, avoid using the review section to ask for download links or seek information on where to find fanedits.

5. Profiting from Fanedits

Profiting from fanedits is strictly forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to, selling physical or digital copies, running a Patreon or other paid subscription pages, or charging for a fanedit exhibition. Members found to be profiting in any way will face a ban, and their fanedit will be removed or rejected from MRDb, depending on their status. The only allowed monetary transactions are for covering shipping and media costs for physical disks. Any charges deemed excessive will be thoroughly reviewed. Therefore, we advise using the digital MRDb features for cover art, poster art, and other related materials.
