Synopsis:

Along with the master tape of the Halloween 1977 episode of Night Owls with Jack Delroy that was recently uncovered, a VHS copy of what was broadcast into America's homes that night has surfaced. See the television event that horrified a nation as they experienced it.

Intentions:

This is an attempt to recreate (or create, depending on how you want to look at it) how viewers at home would have experienced the events of Late Night with the Devil.

Change List:

Removed the documentary portion at the beginning of the film, replacing it with the end of a late 1970s late-night news broadcast from the Louisville, KY market. Added a UBC intro from a Monster Shock Theater interview with David Dastmalchian on the IFC YouTube Channel. Replaced behind-the-scenes footage during the commercial breaks with era-appropriate commercials (local and national) mostly pulled from the Louisville, KY market. (Commercial breaks are a bit shorter; in the original film they are odd lengths). Replaced music in a commercial with Pentagram's "Forever My Queen", which originally played during the excised documentary portion. Added "VCR effects" to the majority of the film to make it look old and a bit degraded. (The quality of the show portions is better than the commercial versions. Making it look exactly like the quality of the commercials created moments where it was difficult to see actors if they were in shadow. I wanted more of a feel of authenticity rather than attempting an exact one-to-one look). These effects were not applied during moments of "unreality" for narrative reasons. Replaced final "end transmission" shot with "station difficulties" intertitle from earlier in the film. Removed a bad CGI demon face near the end of the film. Removed end credits to create sense the program suddenly ended. Added 1970s test pattern at the end.
