Synopsis:

Deep Impact is a good film, and Armageddon is a well directed B movie with a bunch of money thrown at it. Let's add 'em together! I had this fun little idea a while back and wanted to bring it to the big.... to a screen. So, I cut out the crew from Deep Impact and replaced them with the Armageddon crew. I cut out most of Armageddon, and I cut about half of Deep Impact to make this hybrid called "a sky full of colors", trying my best to let these two wildly different movies balance each other. The hardest part being just how fast Armageddon is, because it's just... so dang fast, and somehow so dang long... Michael Bay, you ol' chap.

Intentions:

I decided to make this edit because I felt like it needed to be made. I watched the two films and though, "Hey, these are actually surprisingly similar when it comes to plot." And then I found out the whole 1998 coincidence. So, I smashed these two films together, trying to take the goofy, action side of Armageddon and put it together with the more grounded, serious, dramatic take on earth with Deep Impact. Deep Impact is the earth side of things, and Armageddon is the space side of things to help stop the flippin' asteroid.

Change List:

- First off, Deep Impact Crew is cut out - Starts with Deep Impact opening and transitions into Armageddon people flying off the wall over the asteroid. - Cuts all of the debris flying in and destroying landmarks from Armageddon - Cuts the man finding and naming the asteroid from Armageddon - Cuts the oil explosion from Armageddon - Transitions back to Deep Impact and makes the timeline a lot fuzzier, considering Deep Impact takes place over about two years, and Armageddon takes place over about three weeks. - Many cuts like mentioned before from Armageddon. A lot of the goofy montage stuff is gone. - Wolfman's death is not present in Deep Impact - During the launch, the Biederman's are shown reacting the TV - Cuts the Russian space station scenes from Armageddon - Cuts out the journey AJ takes to get back to the main crew, making it more relieving when he shows up - When something really bad happens in Armageddon, the President addresses it in Deep Impact. - Just a lot of filler cut from Armageddon, and extra scenes cut from Deep Impact - The Scenes of Biederman's leaving and going to the caves are rearranged to flow better - Little tweaks and cutting back and forth from here on

Additional Notes:

Unlike my Hobbit edit, I wanted to not touch that many scenes that are in the film, rather to just cut out a bunch of the other scenes. With Armageddon it's kinda hard, considering that movie doesn't really have "scenes." It does, but not a lot. A lot of Armageddon is just stuff mashed together that moves a million miles per hours. Very seldom does Armageddon just sit and have a clear "beginning of scene" and "end of scene." This actually made it pretty easy to just cut bloat from Armageddon. Good riddance.
