Synopsis:

Decades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring. THE LONGEST VERSION & OPEN MATTE

Intentions:

Aliens is one of those movies I never know which version to watch. Theatrical, because it lacks the suspense-killer-Hadleys-Hope-Sequence (a 7 Minutes-scene from the SE that is a great sequence on it's own but dims imensly the suspense when they arrive on the planet because with it you already know what had happen to the colonists)? The SE because of all the wonderful depth that comes with the added scenes? The Open Matte version because of the additional filmed picture it shows (but then I’m gonna be stuck with the theatrical cut because there is no Open Matte SE)? Bobson Dugnutts Cocon Cut for all the added extended Scenes that are missed by the SE? Or the 35mm Edit of FemmeOutsideSociety for bringing the SE to the next level in not only cutting the Hadleys Hope Sequence in the beginning but bringing it back at a later point as some kind of flashback (but his edit teleports right up to Grindhouse Alley too with scratches all over the picture)? So many choices...! Again, my Special JayXtended Edition comes to the rescue in bringing all of the above together in one definitive edit.

Change List:

Added all 7 deleted scenes that are not part of the SE: - Added Burke telling Ripley "some promises can't be kept." - Added Spunkmeyer saying "I'm getting too old for this s**t." - Added Burke's joke about his college dorm room. - Added Newt trying to run away from Ripley while the group prepares to head out. - Added Hicks tries to stay optimistic when Ripley assumes the Aliens will get them - Added Ripley finds Burke cocooned on her way to rescue Newt - (Post credit) Added Drake comments on his lack of care Cut the Hadleys Hope sequence and moved it to a later point in the movie (more info below) Added an Aliens The Special JayXtended Edition Intro that Reddit user u/etbiludecalcinha made for me (BIG thanks) Added for the fun of it a little short called "Bambi meets Godzilla" as a second intro before the movie starts (because I could).

Additional Notes:

What will you get? - A splendid picture in crisp 1080p with the theatrical color palette. My edit is based on the fabulous SE Open Matte hybrid of YAUT who writes about it: "The hybrid was obtained by automatically overlaying BD-Remux (1.85:1) over HDTV from the COOL channel (16:9) by the AutoOverlay plugin . Color corrected with Aliens Theatrical Cut | Fundamental Collection by spoRv." - Theatrical Parts presented in Open Matte (1,78:1 = 16:9) - The Special Edition & new added Xtended Scenes are in the theatrical 1,85:1 - I added all 7 deleted scenes that are not part of the Special Edition (up-scaled, cleaned up, color graded and with 5.1 Sound now). Some of the scenes are pretty short and only a few of them add substance to the movie, but I think all of them (minus one) are a good way to expand the movie experience. I think I even mastered Burks Cocon-Scene which looks less goofy and more frightening now. The Minus One Scene (Drake giving no s**t) is put in as a post credit scene. That's the only place I can bear it. In fact now we're leaving the movie with this and some Drake-ish pre mortal ZEN. That’s actually pretty cool and I didn’t had to leave the scene out. - Everything is color graded to the blueish theatrical tone palette. - I cut the Hadleys Hope Sequence and moved it to a later point in the movie as some kind of „Dreamback“. Maybe you are like me and watched the SE the last times without it for the above mentioned reasons (I even made me an edit of it where Hadleys Hope is left out for good). I’m so exited to get it back now, because the point where I put it is not only perfect and so we don’t have to miss out on that wonderfully filmed sequence anymore and get Newts and the colonists backstory, Newts glass breaking scream and even some Facehugger love back, but mainly because it reestablish this perfect tie to the first Alien movie without spoiling the goods (all credits go to Reddit user u/FemmeOutsideSociety for that bombastic idea, please check his 35mm Remix of Aliens out too) - Reworked the 5.1 Soundtrack to flow better. - Bonus A: Added the optional SE Commentary and edited it to fit with my cut of the movie (if you never have listen to it do it. It’s one of the best commentary tracks I know). - Bonus B: added the optional soundtrack of the isolated finished theatrical score (of course reedited to fit my cut of the movie) - Bonus C: added another optional track with the isolated score that James Horner actually made for the movie (again reedited to fit my edit) - Added optional English subtitles for the whole movie (even the Xtended Parts) - Added chapters (also to find the Xtended scenes) Theatrical Runtime: 137 Min, SE runtime: 154 Min, The Special JayXtended Edition runtime: 155 Min 40 seconds (that’s without the two intros which add another 1 Minute and 39 seconds to the overall playtime) Aliens The Special JayXtended Edit is available in two incarnations: A x265 RF 21 encode (around 20 GB), A x265 RF19 encode (around 30 GB).

Special Thanks:

Some Voices of Reddit-Users who watched this: "Okay, just watched this and it's.....fantastic! The picture is crisp, the movement of some sections really works and the deleted scenes are brilliant! Really really enjoyed this! Thank you!" "I must say this was definitely the best viewing I ever had of this movie and will certainly look to keep this for life. From the open matte, upscaled deleted scenes, and color-grade of the movie - I was amazed the entire way through. As for the Hadley's Hope scene, I was initially skeptical of including it anywhere in the movie, but quickly changed my mind as it occurred as a nightmare flashback in the exact perfect moment like the editor said. Excellent job here. Folks, I would strongly recommend this edit. The file size(s) are worth it. This is something you can take for life. A few extra GBs is a price well worth paying." "I just watched the JayXtended Edition. I hadn't seen the Hadley's Hope part before and it really made this viewing enjoyable. It was so much fun, thank you!" "Thank you for sharing this. Great version that looks excellent. I too struggled with which version to watch and took what the director suggested. But now I have this version and lovin it! Brilliant film made better"
