Synopsis:

The Pevensie Children return to Narnia after being gone for a year, only to find its much different than the way they left it. This edit brings the Prince Caspian film closer in line with the book and removes many of the bad plots/subplots that were used in the movie, as well as siginifcantly cutting down its run time.

Intentions:

While I enjoyed both this film and the first one, I always felt that as someone who had really liked the books and read them countless times, that the film could have done a better job at adapting the book's plot. My goal wasn't to make a film that was a purist cut, but rather a cut that would still feel like a film and not lose any of (or not many) of the elements from the book.

Change List:

To figure out how I wanted this cut to work, I first wrote down a list of all the cuts and changes I wanted to make to the film. I also looked around on other forums (specifically some Narnia fan forums) for ideas and inspiration. For the actual editing of the film I used Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Audacity in some small cases for audio editing.

Additional Notes:

- Cut the scene at the beginning of Lady Prunaprismia giving birth (it seemed a bit unnessary considering that we're told countless times that Miraz has a son now, it also felt out of place in a Narnia film) - Cut the scene with Miraz telling his general to enact the plan to kill Caspian (I decided removing this scene allowed for a little more mystery at the beginning of the film) - Cut/trimmed train station scene to exclude the fight Peter has with the other people, it just made him look like a jerk when he gives his reason for the fight - Added the deleted Apple Orchard scene - Cut the entire raid on Miraz's castle from the film and all mentions of it - Cut Cornelius from most of the film, in this edit he remains in prison until after the battle - Cut the White Witch scene (while this scene was in the book, it was almost completely different from the book and the motives behind it didn't make sense after cutting the castle raid) - Trimmed the scene where Peter discusses the plan to send Lucy into the woods in search of Aslan (again because of the references to the castle raid and white witch scenes) - Cut Susan's line about her horn to Caspian "You may need to call me again" in this edit there is nothing going on between Susan and Caspian - Added deleted Picking Marshalls scene (note this scene in particular has unfinished visual fx) - Cut almost all of Susan shooting at the Telmarines in the woods, with the exception of one arrow that she shoots (left in the film in order to make the audio work) - Cut Peter offering Miraz's sword to Caspian, now Peter just walks away after - Cut Susan and Caspian kiss - Trimmed ending scene so as to accomadate the fact that there is no dialogue now.
