Synopsis:

LOST I - Genesis covers the first season of the television show of the same name, and depicts the struggles of a diverse and conflicted group of people as they come to terms with the ramifications of their miraculous survival of a plane crash on an island in the South Pacific Ocean. This film series eschews the manufactured drama of its parent television series in order to focus on the compelling narrative hidden beneath its surface. In doing so, the central story of the series is brought into focus through a series of ten thrilling and wholly self-contained cinematic experiences. LOST I - Genesis lays the foundations for the realization of the joint destinies of the survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, and sows the seeds for the discovery of their true role in the future of the mysterious island upon which they find themselves. This series of films will finally provide viewers with an easily-accessible, internally consistent series of films that tell the story of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 in the most compelling and concise way possible. Explore the world of LOST like never before in this unprecedented film experience.

Intentions:

This fanedit is intended to create a complete and self-contained narrative that eschews the less desirable aspects of the notoriously confusing and slow-paced television show LOST, in order to place greater focus on the compelling narrative hidden beneath a heavy cloud of mystery and confusion. This series of films will finally provide viewers with an easily-accessible, plot-hole free series of films that tell the story of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 in a compelling and concise manner.

Change List:

Too many to name, but major plotlines that have been removed in making this film include: -Kate's identity as a fugitive -Claire's abduction by the Others -Almost all flashback narratives -Charlie's drug addiction -Sun's deception regarding her ability to speak English -Rousseau's abduction of Aaron -The existence of the skeletons named "Adam and Eve" -The fact that body of Jack's father is missing In addition, all the ad-break blackouts have been eliminated in order to create a more film-like experience.

Additional Notes:

My general method for editing the television series into the set of ten films that will eventually take shape was to identify and remove any narrative threads that did not contribute to the core story of the television show, and also to remove any plot-holes or poor dialog I found. The programs I used in my edit include: AnyDVD to rip the Blu-Rays TSMuxer to demux the video streams into .264 files MeGUI to demux the DTS-HD audio streams into WAV files Sony Vegas to do the editing and rendering (as Lagarith and WAV files) eacto3 to transcode the finished audio into 5.1 AC3 files MeGUI again to transcode the Lagarith video into the x264 codec for the mkv version of the film HCenc to transcode the Lagarith video into the MPEG-2 codec for the DVD version of the film MuxMan to pack the AC3 and MPEG-2 files into a DVD compliant set of VOB, BUP and IFO files WinRAR to compress the files for uploading jDownloader to create the dlc files Photoshop to create the art for the film.
