Unhappy | 11th November 2024 | Unhappy fleshes out the masterpiece Joker 2 should've been.I typically wouldn’t review my own edit, but as someone who saw the original as a let-down and, in some ways, a middle finger to the fanbase, I believe this version is truly a diamond in the rough. I was finally able to see what this movie should’ve been without all the distracting musical numbers and cringe-worthy singing.
This film exemplifies the art of "show, don’t tell" storytelling, though it demands a sharp eye to catch its subtleties. The layered writing, direction, and performances reveal a depth that’s nothing short of brilliant.
After a year studying psychology and gaining an understanding of trauma responses—particularly those tied to CPTSD—I noticed a wealth of psychological nuance: the twisted smile of a disturbed mind, the love-bombing tactics of a narcissist, and the ego-fuelled mania stemming from childhood abuse.
This edit dives deeper into Arthur’s complexity, constantly provoking the audience to question: Is he genuinely mentally ill, or a master manipulator? Is he putting on an act, or is he simply a tragic, desperate man craving real love and acceptance?
I was blown away by what this edit brought out of the original film. I can confidently say it has become my favourite psychological thriller of all time—a true cinematic masterpiece.

Keanu Reeves Universe | 21st October 2024 | The Keanu Reeves Universe faneditThe Keanu Reeves Universe fanedit, created as part of a community competition, stands out for its clever concept and seamless transitions. The amount of effort and research put into weaving together multiple Keanu Reeves films is evident, and the creativity shines through in the unconventional approach.
While the concept is intriguing, there are moments where the narrative feels a bit disjointed, leaving parts of the story underdeveloped. It’s possible Unfair aimed to keep the runtime around the 90 minute mark, and if so, they succeeded admirably. Still, a bit more depth in certain areas would have strengthened the overall experience.
One of the most impressive aspects of this fanedit is how it introduces lesser-known Keanu films while sparking curiosity about a potential underlying storyline across his body of work. The blend of sources is remarkable, and as someone who admires faneditors who take on such ambitious projects, I found this to be particularly inspiring.
Unfair's work has motivated me to explore the idea of creating an extended version of this fanedit. Overall, a fantastic job that showcases creativity and dedication. Well done.

The Hobbit: The Tolkien Edit | 22nd September 2024 | This project was my very first introduction to fanediting so I may be a little bias but it really showed me the power of editing right out the gate.As a huge LotR film fan, I was tried several times to enjoy this prequel but I couldn’t finished the Hobbit trilogy. I even fell asleep in the theatre during all movies and basically use the theatrical blurays as I sedative to cure my insomnia.
Thankfully this edit was created that rescued the whole franchise and despite not being perfect to modern fanediting standards, it’s still an awesome watch regardless of its 4 hour run time.
It’s a great bit of nostalgia and a brilliant piece of fanediting history.

The Acolyte's Corcoran Cut | 18th August 2024 | V1.4 version reviewI recently had the chance to watch your Acolyte fan edit, and I have to say, it was a very enjoyable experience! The narrative you've created by incorporating the flashback episodes is compelling, and the pacing felt spot-on throughout most of the edit. You clearly put a lot of thought into the flow of the story, and it shows.
While I loved many of your choices, there were a few areas where I think the edit could be even stronger. Some of the audio transitions felt a bit jarring, and a few of the visual cuts were a little abrupt. That said, there were also some fantastic audio and editing decisions that balanced things out nicely.
One small issue I encountered was near the end—around 9 minutes before the conclusion, the video seemed to freeze, which left the ending feeling incomplete. I'm curious if you're planning a part two to follow up on this edit, or if this was an unintentional glitch?
All in all, you've done a great job promoting this edit, and I had a great time watching it. Keep up the amazing work, and I look forward to seeing what you do next!
Great job, Dude!

Chicken Little and the War of the Worlds | 14th August 2024 | This project had me at the premise and didn't let go.Keeping the story simple with a perfect balance of tension and comedy. The removal of a more pop based soundtrack and replacing it with John Williams just gives the whole film a more deeper feel.
A great edit that deserves a place on the MR recommended list.
Nice work Starlight.

Prey: The Implicit Cut | 29th July 2024 | An all round perfect fanedit. This movie is just what fanediting is all about. I personally couldn't get through the original due to pacing and strangely, unbeknown to me until I saw this edit, it being in English.
The removal of almost all dialogue has been extremely well executed and the Comanche spoken overdub works great. The narration is also brilliantly paced for this genre.
This is an all round perfect fanedit and a must watch.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Bossa Nova Edition | 24th June 2024 | This was one of my favourite movies growing up and as a kid, I never noticed all the mistakes this movie had. Now as a well seasoned editor they stick out so much they pull me out the movie. This edit not only fixes those issues but does it seamlessly with new vfx shots of an extremely high standard.
Huge thanks to Risinger Productions for your passion and dedication on this project. It's much appreciated, and has earned a spot in the MR Recommends section.
Congratulations!
